It really started with Diane's mother, Eileen Vos, who taught Diane to a) be a lifelong learner; and, b) be a creative problem solver, who might have heard of -- but has never seen -- 'the box!'

Eileen introduced Diane to ceramics when, in her 50's and knowing nothing about Ceramics, she added a garage to her house and opened a ceramics studio in the 1970's. Thirty years later, Diane's daughter Rachel wanted to take a pottery class the year before Diane retired ... Diane went with her ... and then it was back-to-the-future.

Diane built a garage-sized pottery studio next to her home, and began exploring ways to sell her work. When her husband Raymond retired in 2010, 'Grateful Heart' was truly born, and became an extended family enterprise, with porcelain and mixed media art by Diane, mosaics by daughter Rachel Witt, hand-strung pearls by husband Raymond Gee, and stoneware, raku and glass work by 'sister-by-choice' Gail Johnston.

Grateful Heart Gallery in Lafayette, IN includes Diane's 'Watch me Work!' studio space, where everyone can see the love and skill that goes into every piece of art from "The Heart."
