►ABOUT THE STONE:
Ammonites were predatory mollusks that resembled a squid with a shell. These cephalopods had eyes, tentacles, and spiral shells. They are more closely related to a living octopus, though the shells resemble that of a nautilus. Ammonites appeared in the fossil record about 240 million years ago. Ammonites lived in the seas near what are now the called the Mahajanga and Tulear regions of Madagascar. Our new 2023 XL size has very defined fossilized chambers, and are some of the best quality we've ever seen.
►ABOUT THE CRAFTSMANSHIP:
NEW! I use traditional, time-honored lapidary techniques to drill into the stones in order to sink the lapel pin hardware deep into the stone's surface, so your brooch will not come apart. This time-consuming process is done in addition to the adhesive and resin layers that attach the stones to the metal hardware. Most crafters skip this most important drilling (and resin) step.
►NEED MORE?
Got a super special occasion? Fathers of the bride, grooms and groomsmen? If only one/a few are shown as available, I have a huge stash and can make plenty more for your entire wedding party!
►ABOUT THE MAKER:
Each tie tack, lapel pin, tie bar and pair of cufflinks is unique and one of a kind, and made by hand by printmaker, metalworking artist and Cyberoptix founder, Bethany Shorb. I work between Detroit, MI and a mini-studio RV in Arizona, where I source all our stone, crystal, shell and fossil specimens there and at the Tucson and Quartzsite AZ gem shows. All are intuitively sourced in person, from only the most reputable individual suppliers.
