►ABOUT THE STONE - GEOLOGY AND LORE:
Uruguayan Amethyst is a rare, plum purple gemstone from Artigas in northern Uruguay. It is darker than most of what is sourced in Brazil and is coveted for its spectacular beauty and is highly valued for its rich color.
Makes a great sobriety-symbolizing gift! According to the internet that knows all things, the Greek word "amethystos" may be translated as "not drunken," from Greek a-, "not" + methustos, "intoxicated". Amethyst was considered to be a strong antidote against drunkenness, which is why wine goblets were often carved from it back in the day. So even if you do indulge, have some wine with your amethyst jewelry and maybe you'll feel fewer bad feels the next morning? We can't guarantee that, but you'll sure look good trying!
►ABOUT THE CRAFTSMANSHIP:
NEW! I use traditional, time-honored lapidary techniques to drill into the stones in order to sink the cufflink hardware deep into the stone's surface, so your cufflinks will not come apart. This time-consuming process is done in addition to the adhesive and resin layers that attach the stones to the metal cufflink hardware. Most crafters skip this most important drilling (and resin) step.

►ABOUT THE MAKER:
Each pair of cufflinks is unique and one of a kind, and made by hand by printmaker, metalworking artist and Cyberoptix founder, Bethany Shorb. I work between my home base in Detroit, MI and a mobile RV studio Arizona, where I source all our stone, crystal, shell, fossil and horn specimens there and at the Tucson and Quartzsite AZ gem shows. All are intuitively sourced in person, from only the most reputable individual suppliers.
