Announcement Welcome to my gallery and shop - CarlottasArt.etsy.com

All of my watercolors are painted on 100% cotton acid free professional paper with only professional grade paints. I most often use professional grade Fabriano cold press 140 . I also like Arches 140 cold and hot press.
I use all sturdy acid free supports or primed cotton canvas for my acrylic paintings.

Nature is always a great inspiration for me as well. Landscapes and florals are my go to subjects. I use lots of color and abstract shapes in all my paintings.
Abstracts and mixed media are also on my favs list and plan to do more in the coming weeks.
Watercolor is my 1st choice medium. You cannot get the beautiful color, texture and transparency you get with watercolor using any other medium.

All of may paintings are one of a kind .
Most of my landscapes are related to New England especially Cape Cod, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire.
Bermuda and the Caribbean I also frequent in my landscapes.
These are all places that I have traveled to and love.

I live to paint and I paint to live

Painting is my meditation, my place to go to feel right. I started painting in the 80"s while going through a terrible divorce . It calmed me , gave me peace and allowed me the time not to think about or stress about the situation in my life. I've been painting ever since.
I began to take my painting seriously and started a steady path of taking classes and workshops from well known artists in my area. I had been working towards my BA at Northeastern as well and added drawing and painting classes to my curriculum . Then I began venturing out to Maine, New York , Cape Cod, RI. and Vermont to find more art classes from new and different artists.
With all of this my excitement grew and I realized how important and necessary creating art had become for me.
I aso discovered what I really love about art and painting.
I love color because it evokes a feeling or mood in a painting.
When you place certainI( ex. opposites on the color wheel) next to each other it can create tension or excitement. When you place like colors or subdued colors next to each other it can create harmony or give a feeling of serenity, calmness.
I love nature and combined with the use of color I create paintings that evoke feelings and emotions in me. Sometimes this just happens without a lot of thought and my mood creates the feelings of a painting.
I also teach watercolor and have learned more from teaching and from my students than I could ever imagine.

I studied drawing and painting at Northeastern University and graphic design at Cape Cod Community College. I've studied with artists from Ma.,Vermont, Maine, RI. and Canada. I have a deep love for nature and am driven by color.
