My sewing journey started when I was a preschooler. I spent a lot of time with my paternal grandmother…Grandma Smith. She was a self taught seamstress doing alternations and repairs for my father’s dry cleaning business. I loved to watch her work. One day, while she was sewing, she put me on her lap. My love affair was in full bloom. We decided that we would work on a project together. It was an apron….simple as that. It was a collaborative event because my feet did not reach the foot pedal. A memory and an apron was created that day. She started me on my sewing journey and I am so glad she did. When she passed away she left me her Singer Sewing Machine. That was many years ago and that machine is old and fragile but loved, cherished and in my home.

Over the next few decades I did various types of sewing including; alterations, Halloween costumes, home dec and even dabbled in a little quilting. My husband and four children reaped the benefits of my sewing abilities.
