My name is Heather and I love everything vintage especially wedding gowns!

I had a vintage wedding dress collection of my own, then in 2014 I opened my bridal studio in Brighton UK and named it 'Brighton Vintage Wedding Dresses' and started selling wedding dresses.

I love meeting brides and their family and friends when they visit the studio but with covid I have had to reluctantly remain closed. So I am not doing any bridal appointments, much to the disappointment of many brides.

I want to continue helping brides find their wedding dress as I so enjoy and feel very privileged to be part of this special process.

I always aim to offer a personal customer service with emphasis on the care and happiness of my brides, which I know from previous experience, from already running my bridal studio, is essential when purchasing such a special item as your wedding dress.

I love doing needlework, cross-stitch, embroidery, quilting and dress-making.


ABOUT ALTERATIONS


I love designing and making dresses and sourcing bridal gowns, helping and advising brides to find their dress. I love it when a happy bride full of smiles leaves the studio with her beautiful dress.

I leave challenging bridal alterations to the experts.

However I have a vast experience of suggesting bridal alterations as I have worked with three very talented seamstresses, Clare and Evie, (in Hove) and Roxy (in Kemptown) for the past six years. Over those years, lots of dresses, (as many dresses were one-offs) have left my studio and been taken to the seamstress, ready for a bride to arrive for her fitting appointment. Then the dress is altered and adjusted to achieve the perfect fit. One bride once remarked 'that seamstress can perform magic!'

It is surprising to many brides the amazing range of bridal alterations that can be done - Far more than brides realise. This part of choosing the dress, when it requires quite extensive, challenging alterations, raises stress levels for brides.
I have never had a dress returned that could not be altered. Even size 18's have been altered to fit a size 8.

A seamstress can take in or let out your dress, add or remove sleeves, add straps, lower the neckline or the back, add a lace panel to the back, take up the hem, remove the train, make a hi-low hem, remove or add cups, add pockets or embellish with appliques. The choice is almost limitless; all you need do is decide what you want.

BUYING VINTAGE AND PRE-LOVED WEDDING DRESSES

I only design and make, source and sell dresses that I absolutely love.
The dresses are all in wearable condition, some are pristine - some may have a little imperfection here and there - this does not detract from their loveliness.
I try my best to describe any flaws, imperfections, stains, marks, snags or pulls on the dresses.
Occasionally I do miss something.
When choosing vintage and pre-loved you are not buying a brand new dress so please bear this in mind.
Some brides have said these little flaws and marks add character to their dress and when they started their vintage dress search, they were already prepared to accept some imperfections.
However, of course, it is a very personal feeling.


REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES

I do not accept refunds, exchanges or cancellations.

So please be definite about your decision to buy a dress.

Please think very carefully about your shape and styles of dress that suit you and that you normally wear.
Just because it is your wedding day, don't be seduced by a dress with a shape you would never wear.
Your wedding dress should reflect your personality and most importantly, be comfortable.

Please check carefully the measurements of the dress you are considering buying

A good idea is to measure one of your own favourite dresses, that is a comfortable fit. (Not too tight)
Lay it flat and take measurements on one side at the bust (pit to pit), waist, hips and the length from the shoulder. Then double the measurements, for bust, waist and hips to get your size.

Please be prepared to pay for alterations, extensive or minimal depending on the dress you choose. I am not responsible for the cost of alterations (the cost of the dress does not include this) - please allow for this in your budget.

Many brides visited my studio, especially from London and felt they would rather return to Brighton and use Clare or Roxy, confident with my recommendation. We have worked closely together for 6 years.
