When I talk about hormones, I mean that even "natural" skincare products can still contain essential oils, fragrance oils, preservatives, and other ingredients that can be "xeno-estrogens." These compounds mimic the action of estrogen in the body (no matter your age, gender, or health); wreaking havoc on the body and causing imbalances that can contribute to acne, PCOS, hair loss, and a host of other issues.

Our body has little receptors, picture an open hand. When xeno-estrogens come along the hand grabs them, thinking they are a hormone. The receptors get full and tell the body to chill on hormone production; or mistakenly make too much of other hormones are produced to balance the perceived overage that is actually an imposter. This causes imbalances in the entire body.

Just because something is certified Organic or contains Essential Oils does not mean it is properly formulated. We prioritize holistically safe products and use the least number of ingredients to reach maximum benefit. We used minimal ingredients and properly formulate and preserve our products using a combination of Organic and Wild-harvested ingredients.

Hemp-built, but we have evolved to include a rainbow of Organic Botanicals and Oils. Hemp Seed Oil alone is beyond epic for your skin and we continue to offer it alone and in many of our formulations. Organic Hemp Seed Oil is a lipid, like Olive Oil or Sesame Seed Oil; it is not CBD or anything that is regulated in any way; pressed from industrial hemp seeds.

Acne-prone myself, I formulate every single product to be effective without clogging pores. I battle with auto-immune issues and Long-Haul Rona (thanks to chronic mono prior to 2020); so I also avoid many common allergens, including; coconut, soy, wheat, gluten, corn, and many other weird or questionable ingredients.

No extra ingredients, no filler, no sensitizing essential oils; where essential oils are used, they are used at the same percentage present naturally in the plant. Mindfully simple ingredients, multi-purpose formulations, and minimal zero-waste packaging.

Bear's Beauty & Skincare's Roots

My name is Jerra and all my childhood my Mom and family called me "Bear." I hated it. I was 5'11" by the sixth grade and my viking build made the name feel like a curse. As I grew up I got into cosmetology and was finishing up beauty school whole working in a salon, daily migraines had become my normal. The connection between the chemicals in cosmetics and hair care and the many auto-immune issues plaguing me (Acne,PCOS, Migraines, Chronic-Mono, and Psoriasis; was made thanks to Mom and Julie Gabriel (of Green Beauty Guide.) Perfume and Make up was my life and doing hair was my job. I had to find replacements for all the perfume and products that I loved. Over time I realized that most natural products on the market were not suited for my kind of sensitive acne-prone skin, so I started making my own.

Bear's Beauty started at the urging of friends and family to sell my handmade concoctions in 2013. As I started to make my own skincare, having grown up on HSN and QVC I was quite the beauty consumer. I needed replacements for everything...but first, deodorant!

After many tries, we came up with a deodorant formula that was coconut-free, easy on the baking soda, heavy on the soothing ingredients, and balanced on the natural scent. Max Strength Deodorant was born.

Organic Hemp Seed Oil was seldom used in skincare, and I found that it was magic for my skin. I started making my version of everything, infused with Hemp Seed Oil, Organic, and matched with specific actives or essential oils for targeted concerns. Eventually, we expanded and now have many non-hemp and no essential oil formulations. We cater to anyone who seeks to balance and work with their skin rather than against it.

From my personal experiences and loss of my Grandfather to Lymphoma (linked to glyphosate), I felt very strongly about the purity of our products, sourcing only Organic, Eco-Cert, or Wild-Harvested ingredients wherever possible. Any actives are sourced in a natural or the least-processed-way possible.

We moved along with my family and went from Georgia, to Indiana, Arizona, and now we fund ourselves nestled in the mountains of Colorado near Four Corners. Proceeds fund an animal sanctuary project to benefit Rez dogs, a unique set of circumstances has created packs of dogs on the Navajo reservation that are all but feral. We seek to rehab these dogs and give them a sanctuary to exist safely. Our current project is more fencing to keep coyotes off the property and pups on as well as solar and lighting for out building.

We seek to grow many of our own botanicals and regenerate the six acres that was once a hay farm. Building ourselves, nature, and animals all at once.

For the foreseeable future, Colorado is Home.


Sustainable Operation With Soul

From day one I wanted to do things in a way that impacted the planet the least. This was originally based on what was livable in 2013. As the market has evolved to include for sustainable and less plastic options, we have adapt and adjusted. We are constantly updating our ingredients, process, packaging, and manufacturing facility to be the most sustainable, carbon-neutral, and Eco friendly possible.

Born of my own desire for transparent and holistic body care that was hormone wellness-centered, each and every ingredient serves a purpose and is sourced for quality and sustainability before convenience. I make products that I use on my family and myself and each batch is made as if for my own family.

We are building an GMP facility that will be powered with as much solar as possible with our budget and will conserve water while growing botanicals. I am so stoked.

I assure that the ingredients are beyond clean and have as much of the original bio-identical properties in place as possible, always choosing the least processed material.
