Turn your original photo or drawing into a thermofax screen by sending an image or any questions to PGFiber2Art @ gmail.com. IMAGES FOR CUSTOM SCREENS MUST: 1) BE YOUR ORIGINAL ARTWORK, or 2) BE LICENSED/APPROVED FOR YOUR USE BY THE ORIGINAL ARTIST, or 3) BE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN OR WITHOUT COPYRIGHT RESTRICTION. WE WILL NOT MAKE SCREENS FROM IMAGES WHERE COPYRIGHT IS QUESTIONABLE. A large screen can range in size from 5" x 7" up to 7" x 9 1/2". Image must be black & white and sent as .jpg or .png files in the exact size desired. Screens are NOT mounted on frames; you can choose "taped" or "untaped" edges when making your purchase.
This screen can be used on fabric, paper, or other mixed media surfaces with screen printing inks, textile paints or thickened dyes. Hand printing is an imperfect process, but the hand-made look is part of its appeal. Large amounts of text, especially in a variety of sizes, may not print as crisply as desired. If your design contains text that includes important information, you may be happier with a different method of printing.
Disclaimer for use on paper:
-fabric and paper absorb paint in different ways. Try varying amounts of paint and several brands with different viscosity to get the coverage you wish.
-Large areas of solid on the screen may not print as a complete solid on paper.
-Use a cushion of craft felt under your printing surface rather than a hard table surface.
-Any texture on your paper may also affect the way it prints.
-Thermofax on paper is better for a graffiti or grunge look than it is for a clear crisp print.
If you purchase the screen untaped, it will need to be duct taped on the edges before use. You can find a tutorial on taping on our blog at http://pgfiber2art.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_10.html. Care of screens: When finished printing with a screen, immediately drop it in a pan of lukewarm water (kitty litter pans are perfect!) so the paint does not dry on the screen. Metallic paints will quickly clog a screen, so not letting the paint dry is especially important. I wash the screens right away (plain water is all that's needed); an old toothbrush or fingernail brush helps with cleanup. Dry them with an old towel and set aside with the plastic-coated side up to dry completely. Damp screens stacked on top of each other may stick together. Store flat (scrapbook paper storage boxes work great).
Shipping: Orders will be shipped on Saturday if received by Thursday of that week. Shipping for all US orders will be by first class mail. Orders to Canada and other international destinations will be sent 1st class international mail. Multiple screens will ship for 1 price.
