"Brazed Lunaria" created by Rachel Rivas-Plata using Midjourney AI on a 5 in. x 7 in. x 3/4 in. cradled wood canvas. The image has been overlayed with encaustic medium. The sides of the wood canvas have been painted and glazed charcoal gray - a few light beeswax drips occasionally appear. Each canvas is labeled and wired on the back, ready to hang.
NOTE: This item is made to order - natural variations will occur so you will not get an exact replica of these photos, but it will be very close. Keep in mind the colors will vary depending on the screens on which they are viewed.

Not only are encaustic works beautiful to look at, they have wonderful texture as well as a faint, sweet scent. The components I usually use are all biodegradable. There are many variations of encaustic wax paintings. I heat high quality refined beeswax medium made with dammar resin (tree sap) and layer it on wood, chip board, or paper. Each layer must be fused together and I do this with a heat gun. I often use watercolor paints, oil paints, and PanPastels to add color and depth. Creating texture is done by using various tools and brushes.
Encaustic works need about the same care as any other fine art paintings. Do not leave them in direct sunlight or close to a heat source.
