Take good care of new piece so it will last you a lifetime (and hopefully pass it down through generations). Always store away your piece in its original cotton bag. Stay away from moisture and dust, the worse enemies of brass.

Over time brass will tarnish naturally gaining a matte darker patina. I seal all my items with a protective wax, to best preserve it gently polish it after each use.

If your jewelry has lost its original shine and you want it back, try using vinegar, lemon juice or ketchup, rinse it with warm water and dry it completely before storing it away. Use chemical agents as last resource!

For the cotton pieces I suggest the same care when it comes to storage. For cleaning use a damp cloth to remove dust and minor stains.
