These headbands are handmade by the SHOFCO Women's Empowerment Project (SWEP) in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya.
The SHOFCO Women’s Empowerment Project (SWEP) teaches business and entrepreneurship skills to women living with HIV in the slums and provides them with a living wage through the production and sale of unique products such as tablet cases, yoga bags and beaded jewelry. The program also organizes social events for participants, helping the women bond and support each other. After they graduate from the program, the women become eligible for seed capital to start their own business through our Group Savings & Loans Program.
These headbands come in a variety of patterns and colors.
If you place an order through Etsy, you will receive any one of our unique designs. To order more than 10 headbands at a time, or to request custom colors/patterns, email Molly Frank, mfrank [!at] shininghopeforcommunities.org
