These beautiful bracelets are handmade by the SHOFCO Women's Empowerment Project (SWEP) in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya. These bracelets are made in a similar style to our regular beaded bracelets, but these include metallic beads that can be easily matched with the rest of your bracelet collection.
The SHOFCO Women’s Empowerment Project (SWEP) teaches business and entrepreneurship skills to women living with HIV in the slums and provides them with a living wage through the production and sale of unique products such as tablet cases, yoga bags and beaded jewelry. The program also organizes social events for participants, helping the women bond and support each other. After they graduate from the program, the women become eligible for seed capital to start their own business through our Group Savings & Loans Program.
