This Halvor Tomte with Double Tree FPP (foundational paper piecing) pattern is sized for a 6"x6" finished quilt block. {Note: there are no 'Y seams' in this block}

🌲Halvor has a charm all his own. He stands a bit on the tall side, which is likely the influence of the tall trees he's surrounded by (or maybe it's his magic that makes the trees tall? We might never know!). Why, the tip of his hat is so tall it can't help but flop over! He's pretty wise and loves to show other tomte the way of the forest. Also...his best friend is Nes.

🍄Tomte (also called Nisse, Tomten, and several other variations) is the word for gnome, brownie and/or hob in Scandinavian countries, which is where they originate from. They are known to be magical little folk who clear out forest for farmers, bring presents to little children on Christmas and seem to love it if you leave out a bowl of porridge as a thanks for the gifts they bring. Did I mention they are magical? ✨

This quilt block would easily lend itself to many different finished projects like quilts, wall hangings, decorative pillows, table runners and/or tree skirts!!! It can of course be made with a Christmas or Winter theme, but it can also work well with a Valentine's theme or even a lumberjack theme!! I wonder what you'll come up with! (*No finished projects are not included in the download). The block can easily be resized to a larger size to accommodate more projects and add variety to whatever you wish to make (your printer and/computer would need the capability to resize - most these days are able to.)

Patterns and tips, plus instructions for assembling sections together are included in the PDF. Basic paper piecing instructions are NOT included. Experience with foundational paper piecing and standard sewing supplies are needed to complete this quilt block. (A quick search online or YouTube will pull up a great selection of helpful tutorials if you're just getting started learning paper piecing!!). You will need a printer to print the patterns in the PDF in order to sew the blocks. A PDF reader is needed for this pattern. If you do not have one, Adobe Reader is available online, usually for free.
