There are two types of basic knitting, plain knitting or rib knitting. You may see a sample of each.

The color card is a card that has a strand of each color option of the undyed, natural, alpaca yarn. This way you can see them in person, not through the monitor. Since the walnut dyed wool varies so much, this color will not be included, alas, pictures online are the only way to see these.

Alpaca is fuzzier, warmer and a bit heavier than the wool. The wool is coarser, and a more structural. Woollywhotknots has two thickness of the organic, merino wool that can be used. Sport weight and fingering weight. The sport is thicker and heavier, it is also a bit thicker than the alpaca. The fingering weight is lighter and thinner than both the alpaca and the sport weight wool. The color choices in the listings' photos only show the natural alpaca colors. The wool comes in unbleached ivory white. I usually have some dyed with black walnut husks (organically grown on our farm). Please ask to see the shades of brown that are available. The alpaca doesn’t not pill like wool does.
