Bright mirror finish orichalcum ring - a plain, simple band. Cast in a mould rather than formed from sheet or wire, there are no solder joins in this piece and every one is unique. Perfect as a wedding or engagement ring that's a bit different, or just for everyday wear.
Orichalcum is the legendary metal which Atlantis was supposedly built of, and is mentioned in a number of ancient texts. Until recently it's composition was unknown but archaeological finds over the last few years have discovered ingots which may be the metal. Depending on whose results you look at, it's an alloy of mostly copper with varying amounts of zinc, nickel, iron and lead. My recipe doesn't include lead for obvious safety reasons, but it does include some fine silver instead. I don't include nickel either as that can cause allergy issues with some people.
Due to the composition of the alloy, this ring will tarnish slightly with time, picking up a warm, deep colouration. This adds another dimension and character to the piece, although it can easily be polished off using a mild abrasive such as Brasso or even a dab of household toothpaste.
Orichalcum has many qualities associated with it, but I can personally guarantee that since making my first piece with it, I have not been attacked by a single zombie, lich or orc, so clearly it repels those creatures.
