Is your tiny fur baby making his mark all over the place, or does he need to be trained, to curb accidents?
Here is a male dog diaper wrap belly band for him. This sewing pattern is so easy, I wish I knew about them when I had my dalmatian!
I have one pdf download for male Yorkshire terrier xs / toy breed size dogs with waist 9 to 11 inches in circumference, and another pdf in this download, that I just added, for dogs with 12 inch waist. Just follow the photo & text step by step instructions from the pdf with the 9 to 11 waist belly band, same concept, with the new belly band for 12 in waist, just everything is wider, and pushed out. I even added a 2nd hook & loop area, which you can do on the other belly band pdf. The new belly band pdf for the 12 inch waist is 14 1/2" wide by 3 3/4" long high, when finished, so cut your fabric pieces 15 1/2" wide by 5" high long.
The difference with this one, is that it has a stretch nylon pocket, the kind for swimwear or dancewear, with an opening to slide in a cut up cloth diaper, microfiber cloth, or even maxi pad / sanitary napkin. These two things add value, and protection, prolonging the life of the belly band diaper wrap! Also, if you want, you can make the entire inside lining out of microfiber terry cloth, the kind that holds up to several times its weight in liquid, found in the cleaning supplies area of stores, fabric.com and 2 other online sites, sold by the yard, and each yard yields up to 32 inner linings from $12 to $16 per yard. Or you can go to Walmart or Target, even the Dollar store and buy washcloths or cloths, that are microfiber terry cloth, get the kind that are labeled, "that holds up to several times its weight in liquid", and sew two together, or cut one in half and sew the two pieces together width wise.
I also recommend not only straight stitch around the Velcro / hook & loop, but also running a close zig zag stitch 4 times around the edge, as this prolongs the life of the belly band, keeping the Velcro on longer. You'll need to fill your bobbin twice for the Velcro and pocket stitching.
This is 4 pages, one page with the pattern split in half, left & right side to tape together, including the seam allowance around the pattern, place marked for the Velcro, area for the pocket marked, with text instructions on the pattern. Plus 2 pages of photo & text, step by step instructions. The first page is the intro page, with supply list, measurements, photos, etc.
I usually buy all of my supplies at Joann Fabrics, but you can buy where ever they sell these supplies.
I started making these for my boyfriend's parents, who breed and show pugs. The male dogs needed a little training, so my boyfriend's mom had me come up with a better way to make them than what she had.
Then, a customer asked me to make them, but she asked me to make an absorbent pocket, for a pad, cloth diaper, as added protection and absorption tool.
And now, my boyfriend's mom says to us microfiber cloth, and a waterproof or water resistant outer fabric. She was the one who suggested adding the extra zig zag stitches, to hold the Velcro on better, and make the belly band last longer.
I really recommend these dog diaper wraps.
This size is for a Yorkshire terrier, or "Yorkie", a extra small / small size for dogs or puppies with a 9" to 11" waist circumference. It is 13 1/4" wide and 3 3/4" long when finished. Its so easy to make. You can probably make several in an afternoon or night.
Prep and sewing time: 1 -2 hours approximately
