MY BEST-SELLING DIY LAMP PART - OVER 6,000 SOLD (so far!)
FAVORITED OVER 900 TIMES ON ETSY
This is a life-saving adapter if you make industrial pipe lamps, and want to add a bulb socket, glass insulator, or power cord to your project. It lets you easily mount a standard 1/8" IPS (3/8" O.D.) lamp nipple or cord strain relief into the female end of a plumbing pipe fitting without having to use those big, bulky adapters that don't fit right, and ruin the look of your project.
I searched for something like this for nearly 3 years, and couldn’t find it, so I designed and created it myself (so you won't find these anywhere else!). The thread count and taper (or lack thereof) is different between plumbing and electrical fittings, so other adapters out there may look like they will work, won't fit properly. For example, a 1/8" plumbing fitting has tapered threads, so a lamp nipple (which has straight threads) will go in only a couple of turns, then it will get stuck. And even if you can make it fit, you will see a big bulky adapter between your pipe fitting and your glass insulator or socket (see examples in photo #2). My exclusive adapter virtually disappears once it's installed.
Great for mounting glass insulators (with a 1/2" hole drilled at the top) to iron or copper pipes, with or without a candelabra socket inside. A pair of neoprene rubber washers (not included) are recommended when mounting glass insulators (see photo #4), but I do also offer a complete socket and mount kit for glass insulators, which includes the rubber washers, one of these adapters, and all other parts that you would need, including a bulb socket. These adapters are NOT 3D printed! They are machined from solid metal, they won't rust, and are tested to support up to 50 pounds*. Slots on either side of the opening make for easy installation or removal - a standard flat-head screwdriver or even a coin can be used. See the video in this listing to see just how easy they are to install. They fit both metric (1.0mm) and fractional (27 tpi) lamp nipples. Each adapter is approx. 7.5 to 7.65mm thick, and requires approx. 2-1/2 turns to sit flush (they will automatically stop at flush). A locknut can be used on the backside, for added strength, if desired.
These adapters are available in 1/2", 3/4", and 1" NPT sizes. You are buying the adapter(s) only - the lamp nipples, fittings, glass insulators, sockets, rubber washers, and other items shown in the photos are for illustration only, and are not included.
HOW TO ORDER:
Choose the outer NPT pipe thread size and quantity you want. For the Quantity menu below that, leave it set at 1 (unless you want more than one pack of 12 adapters, for example). Keep in mind that the actual outer diameter of these adapters is 1/4" wider than the NPT pipe thread size (for example, the 1/2" adapter measures 3/4" in actual diameter, but is made for 1/2" pipe). The more you buy, the more you save - save up to 40% when buying a 20 pack!

*Tested with 50 pounds of weight pressing straight down onto the adapter - not tested at a 90º angle. If using these adapters for hanging fixtures, floating shelves, or chandeliers, I recommend adding a 1/8" IPS locknut to the inside of the adapter, for additional support and stability.
