This item is a download of instructions to build your own original strip-board version of the Noise Hero. It includes diagrams, written instructions, user instructions and example sounds.
The build instructions are set out in a 'test as you build' style so you can check each section as you build it which makes trouble shooting much easier.
You will need the following tools to build the Noise Hero circuit:
A drill, a 4mm drill bit, a 1.5mm drill bit, a fine tipped soldering iron, some solder, side cutters, some wire wool or fine sand paper and wire strippers. A helping hands type device will help you keep the circuit from moving around. Also a solder sucker is useful for getting rid of any solder bridges between track of strip board if your soldering is less than perfect.
You will need the following extra tools for mounting the circuit onto its base:
A dot punch or sharp nail/screw, a 9mm drill bit, a 13mm drill bit, a metal file, some pliers and a small pozidrive screw driver.
You will need the following parts:
1 x Stripboard atlest 36 tracks by 20
1 x 4093 Cmos microchip
1x 14 pin chip socket
4 x Logarithmic 1M potentiometers (marked A1M)
1 x Linear 47k potentiometer (marked B47K)
5 x Knobs for the pots.
8 x PCB miniature switches
1 x Push switch
4 x 100k resistors
1 x 10k resistors
2 x 1k resistors
1 x 4.7k resistors
1 x 15k resistors
1 x 10NF ceramic capacitor (marked 103)
1 x 47NF ceramic capacitor (marked 473)
2 x 2.2uf barrel caps
2 x 10uf barrel caps
1 x 1uf cap
1 x 4.7uf cap
1 x 9v battery clip
1 x 1/4" mono audio socket
1 x 2N3904 transistor
1 x LED
Some solid core insulated wire
A wooden base atleast 140mm x 57mm x 15mm
1 x Aluminium plate 92mm x 40mm
1 x Aluminium plate 40mm x 40mm
7 small screws
Please not that if you cannot find some of the exact parts used (particularly the switches, push button, potentiometers and 1/4" output socket) their connections may not match and you will have to adapt the stripboard layout to suit your parts.
