I am restoring and silkscreen printing a large series of historic maps and plots from 1870s - 1940s Charlotte, North Carolina. The originals are archived at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Carolina Room (or off premises) and are in such delicate condition that we can't enjoy them. I will restore and release screen prints of much of the birth of Charlotte's neighborhoods over the next years. Check back often as I work on: Myers Park, Uptown, Dilworth, Elizabeth, Wesley Heights, North Charlotte, Optimist Park, Plaza Midwood, Chantilly, Sharon Township, South Park, Douglas Airport, Latta Plantation, Freedom Park, Sedgefield, Charlotte Speedway, and lots (lots) more!
This listing: ORIGINAL PLAN for Charlotte's Freedom Park! Did you know there was supposed to be a swimming pool in Freedom Park? And more gardens? This hand drawn plan includes an inscription reading: "To all who served so fearlessly - and gallantly gave the laughter from their hearts - that children might play in a happy world." *Pencil for scale*
Printed with North Carolina made inks on French Parchment Paper (size 25" x 13"). Available in split fountain ink (two gradient inks merge to create an artistic effect) on natural parchment paper. Framing is also available.
