Oga Kpata Kpata translates from Yoruba to something like - "boss of bosses" in English. This first piece in the series is called "Dike" which means warrior and represents men of battle in the rural parts of Eastern Nigeria which is where I am orignially from. As a boy, I recall seeing these huge men parading the village walls and wondering how the heck they could carry those hefty cutlasses, machetes and spears for hours each night. These were indeed some fearsome men as depicted in this painting.
This print is a reproduction of an original Acrylic painting. It is Mach 1 in the Oga Kpata Kpata series of paintings, of which there are ten total. The inspiration for this piece comes from my brothers and uncles who I grew up with as a youngster in Nigeria. This print is made on Hahnemuhle PhotoRag Baryta Premium Luster Photo Paper and comes in three sizes. It lies somewhere in between a gloss and matte finish, providing you with highly saturated, maximum ink coverage. Luster paper is also resistant to fingerprints, making it a popular choice for photographic prints. Each print has a 0.5" border on each side of the paper for easier matting.
Please note that this is a regular print that you will need to frame yourself. However, we also offer canvas wrap prints which are more expensive, but come ready to hang. Feel free to message me directly if you'd rather have those and thank you for stopping by our store.
