Not all ceramic vases are created equal, and the best vase typically depends on your overall design preferences. But there are some differences between different ceramic vases that might help you make a decision.
Porcelain vases are the most durable type of ceramic, made with refined material and baked at an extremely high temperature. Porcelain pieces have a high gloss finish that is very recognizable and lends itself to ornate designs.
Stoneware vases are fired at a slightly lower temperature than porcelain, which produces a durable and water-tight product. These pieces may or may not be glazed, as it's a design choice and not needed for waterproofing.
Earthenware vases are baked at the lowest temperature of all three and are not waterproof unless treated with a glaze. As these vases are commonly glazed, many have bright colors and unique designs.
