People are always asking me, "How long did it take you to make that?" My answer is "all my life".
I started crafting in my grandmother's house around the age of 8 in Fort Worth, Texas. She taught me to crochet and I made a crocheted chain that could probably have set the world record! But I was hooked. In my early 20's I began making things for my apartment and I never quit. I think I have tried every medium known to man.
My husband and I owned and operated a western art gallery for 21 years. During that time I sold other people's art and dabbled in mine. It was during that time I started making polymer clay flowers and Naughty Christmas ornaments.
After we retired our gallery I went to work as a 911 operator in Dallas, Texas. Six long years later they had driven me to weaving baskets. Baskets led me to gourds and that's where I am today! But in the last few years I have come back to The Naughtys and Wild Flowers.
I live in Arlington, Texas, USA with my husband, Mel, of 44 years. We have one 37 year old son, Cy, who graduated from Texas Tech University and became an environmental scientist and lives nearby. My oldest grand daughter shares my passion for art and I am so honored to pass on my talents to her as my grand mother passed on hers to me.
There is no greater compliment as when someone buys something you have created!
