I moved to the suburbs a few years ago and found myself surrounded by wildlife, mostly squirrels. A lot of these little guys were so friendly they'd sit in my lap while they ate the food I left out for them. These guys inspired me to start building little nesting boxes for them.
Having a degree in industrial design I did more research and I found out how to make my products better. I began to create feeders and other nesting boxes for different wildlife. In my quest to make my products better I talked with amazing people who helped orphaned wildlife get back on their feet and back into the wild. These people are known as wildlife rehabbers and they also inspired me to help them out. I began to do fundraisers and auctions as well as donate some of my profits to their causes.
People began to ask me to do custom projects for them like necklaces, jewelry boxes and signs. My hobby grew into a business which began producing all kinds of handmade items.
I never would have thought that a little critter could have inspired me so much. I have met so many wonderful people and developed a backyard hobby into an actual, successful business.
