I've always loved printmaking. I did my Degree and Masters (Royal College of Art) in the practical subject, seven years full-time studying altogether, enough to be a doctor or something! I then taught Art in Secondary school full-time, to make a living, best job I ever did, can't wait to get back to it! I recently rediscovered my love of lino print in particular, in the last year or so; I printed a few presents for friends rather than buying something...they were well-received, so I put a couple of items on Etsy, such a thrill to sell my first item!

Most items are lovingly drawn, carved and hand-printed by me. Due to the nature of the medium and my production methods, all items are one-offs. Variations naturally occur with lino, unlike screen-printing, which has a more consistent surface (or cold surface in my estimation). All of my items are quality prints, you will be receiving a genuine piece of wearable or usable Art.

I endeavour to reuse and recycle all the time; for example I never wash my rollers, I wrap them in cling film, saves water and ink! If I'm out and have a drink out of a plastic cup, when I'm finished I put it in my bag, take it home and use it for mixing ink rather then binning it. I've even been spotted going through the bins at parties to retrieve same! I have no shame when it comes to looking after the environment!

I chose the name Squashed Tomato Prints as I wanted something with a flavour of the English, which I am. It seems a peculiar trait of the English to make fun of themselves and others on occasions that might be either serious or celebratory. The version of Happy Birthday that first comes to mind when I'm asked to sing it - "Happy Birthday to you, squashed tomatoes and stew,you look like a monkey and you smell like one too!"
