I've been a maker all my life. I grew up as a free-range child in rural Nebraska and our parents gave us access to all sorts of materials. In 2011 I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. The first thing I did was buy an art journal to document the process. Through studying techniques from a variety of artists, my work as a mixed-media collage artist grew. The art that emerged from having cancer was the true gift of the experience.
In 2015, my eight-year-old granddaughter gave me the idea to make worry dolls. The dolls in my shop are the result of her inspiration. Some of them became angels, all with a mission to help people have a happy heart. In addition to being an artist, I am a poet, yogi, gardener, school director, wife, mom, grandmother.
