I started woodburning in 2009 and made a few things here and there. Family members and friends started becoming more and more impressed with the things I was turning out. A couple people even suggested I sell some of them. About a year after I started burning, I started the process for obtaining my DBA and Tax ID # from New York State. After everything was in place, I knew I had to come up with some sort of logo, so I had my girlfriend at the time (now my wife), Desiree, design some logos off an idea I had.
Little by little, things started coming together, I made a business account through Walnut Hollow so I could order wood pieces at bulk for a discounted price. I started advertising as much as I could afford to, mostly on Facebook, Google, and I even put an ad in a local magazine once.
At first I was just doing plain burnings and just staining the pieces. I thought, "How can I bring this up to the next level? Color." Desiree is more artistic than I am when it comes to color application and shading, so I made her my "color artist".
I continue to try and get my name out there any way I can, I purchase a booth at the local Harvest Festival each year and sell some pieces there as well as on here. As long as I can keep burning, I'll keep producing pieces.
