Announcement Please visit my website www.romandana.com to look at more art scarves and my paintings. On Etsy, I have hand-painted silk scarves, Nuno felted scarves, collaged scarves from my art fabrics, felted scarves, wraps, shawls, felt brooches, felt necklaces and a few felt wall pieces. I am using French dyes, wax resist, gutta resist, salt technique, shibori, felt, and the incredible array of colours that painted silk offers. Nuno felted shawls are a mixture of silk and merino wool, wet felted by hand. Very contemporary. I can do custom colours and custom sizes as well. Abstract, flowers, mountain scenes, details of nature, etc.

This scarf matches the written description but the beautiful purple blues are missing. The spectrum of colors in the picture is what sold me. I will still wear it and enjoy it.

Dana was lovely to deal with, as the first scarf I ordered was lost by Canada Post; she traced it for me and promptly made me another scarf. The hand painting is stunning, and it is an excellent length. I only gave it four stars as the scarf had raw edges, keeping the price low. To add more impact, a rolled hem would make it suitable to exquisite. I recommend this to a friend.

From architect to designer and artist.

The reason for switching my carrier from architecture to textiles was certainly my 3 children. Textiles were always my hobby since I was small, and the dream thing to do, but I finished the masters degree in architecture, which I loved as well. Staying at home with the kids for a few years gave me the opportunity to do my hobby, which was painting, crocheting, off loom weaving, bobbin lace, batik, and finally painting on silk. In 1977 I established the business “Artacious” and started to sell my textile art pieces and art wear across Canada and United States. And in a few years I had 7 full time employees. My business was running well for 20 years and I enjoyed every minute of it. In 1997 we decided to move from Toronto to our dream place - Canmore in Canadian Rockies and partly retire from working 70 hours a week, and I became a studio artist. Now I spent my time hiking, scrambling and skiing the mountains and painting those incredible experiences on silk (and canvas). Since then I won many artists awards, had 20 solo shows and was admitted to over a hundred of juried and traveling shows. Please visit my artist website www.romandana.com
