I taught myself how to crochet in 2009, and ever since then I've been making gifts for others with the craft. I love to crochet because it's so meditative and freeing. I love being able to "build" with the crochet hook, so while I was getting a BFA in sculpture, I naturally began experimenting with crochet sculpturally. My final installation at school was a massive hanging crochet piece made of the magnetic tapes from inside VHS cassettes. (You can see it at my website: sallycgarner.com)

Since then, I've been making more and more fiber works, but also started to paint in watercolor! I love the way the watercolor actually lets you really play with the paint. I like to get the paper saturated to see the colors run and collide! I've mainly been experimenting with my paintings, but I believe to have found a rhythm and I hope you enjoy them as well.

Most Recently, I've gone back to using fiber in a way of beautiful adornment. My newest collection of necklaces involves needle felting top quality merino wool and beaded with a variety of stone, seed, and pearl beads. These pieces go back to my love for statement jewelry, and I want to share my skills to help someone feel good when they go out wearing one of my necklaces.
