My name's Odette. By day I'm a freelance graphic designer. By night I'm a free style printer...

...but really I just see myself as an all round creative type who's at her happiest when making stuff (even if it's just flat pack furniture!)).

I decided 2013 was the year to rediscovered the joys of printing my own artworks. I have always loved screen printing and lino cuts - they suit my fascination for breaking down images in to simple graphic shapes and patterns. I also love the individual quirks you get with each hand print - I guess that may have something to do with it being far removed from the meticulously tweaked, computer based design work I produce on my computer day-to-day.

The fairly basic amount of equipment and relatively small amount of space you need to do these two print processes also suits my home set up. I live in a little flat in East London, England with a very understanding boyfriend - who sometimes has to put up with cooking dinner whilst I print away on the kitchen table! (well... he does own over 3,000 vinyl records so I think it's a fair trade!)

I love having a theme to produce a series of prints from, enjoying the research and sourcing of reference material almost as much as crafting the final artwork.

I have to confess to not being entirely computer free in creating these artworks, as I find it a much quicker process to scan the original reference material in, trace around it on my mac, correcting and tweaking as I go, and then printing out the final result to transfer to a silk screen or lino print.

I'm really hoping that at some point in the not too distant future I can: A. afford a slightly bigger place to live and B. buy an Adana press, then there'll be no stopping my printing powers!
