A peek behind the curtain of Painted Sabotage.
I grew up in Miami, Florida around style, fashion and of course nails. I've always had a love of everything nails especially nail polish. When I was a preteen I would visit the nail shops in a nearby flea market I spent hours talking and watching the artists' work their craft. In my teen years I was creating nail art on my own nails. Even back then I had a growing collection of nail polishes. I had over a dozen bottles of polish and changed things up almost every day. I love how polish can be changed whenever the mood strikes!
When I was a young girl my mom introduced me to my first taste of sci-fi: The crazy world of Doctor Who! I'll always remember Tom Baker, and who could ever forget the sound of the Tardis? My step sisters also opened my eyes to the world of Star Wars, they took me to my first movie I was in awe, totally amazed and fan from then on. But let’s not forget Star Trek. Can I have a Tribble please? My love of sci-fi has been a big inspiration in my life, which might help you understand why a polish might have an unusual name!
Sci-fi is not my only inspiration! I have many more that I pull from to inspire me. Art, books, nature, movies, TV shows, cartoons, manga...I could go on and on! I can't say that only one thing inspires me because I look at everything as an art form!
Fast forward a few years, going through different creative outlets. I was the only female drummer in my school's marching band, competing in several competitions for concert band and drums. Yes, my nails looked fabulous!
While in college, I was channeling my creativity in a different medium: graphic design. While I loved learning the process of graphic design and even working in the graphic design field I found it to be stifling my creativity. I wanted to create something special.
I went back to my first passion, nail art, which I still love to this day. I soon realized that I wanted to create art that would last beyond a single manicure and it hit me...nail polish!
Painted Sabotage was born. The name was somewhat of a no-brainer, coming from someone who always painted her nails and on many occasions would "sabotage" her own manicure. Need to use bathroom after I just painted them so many times I lost count. Smudged nails on something silly? Yep! Better yet, how about messing up the left hand while painting the right hand? Just had to laugh. That's how the name was born!
I have sensitive skin, so I'm very conscious about what ingredients go into my products, and I'm committed to being a cruelty-free company.
It's been an intense and at times frustrating road, full of epic research and a great deal hard work and heartache ... But I'm very excited about what I've achieved, and what's to come!
