Frequently asked questions

Do you reuse bags and boxes for shipping? Do you ship books in polybags?

No. Reusing bags and boxes means that your order is not well protected as I don't know how those packages were handled and the integrity could be compromised. I only use new materials to ship in.

No! Polybags are great for items like clothing or tote bags, but they are one of the worst possible ways you could ship a book as they frequently rip in transit and essentially offer no protection.

I either ship in a properly sized bubble mailer or a cardboard box depending on what is best for the specific order.

How do you pack your boxes?

I take great pride in packing orders thoughtfully, intentionally, and with great care. I line all boxes with bubble wrap and put the books in in the best way to minimize movement (how that looks varies by order). If the books do not completely fill the space I use bubble wrap and air packs to make sure that the books are secured.

After the box is filled all seams are taped. The tape and the bubble wrap help provide a moisture barrier. Taping all seams helps reinforce and ensure structural integrity since the post office has stated that packages must be able to survive a 3 foot drop. I do everything in my power to protect your order so it arrives to you safely!

Can you do anything about the international shipping prices?

Often the answer is yes! It is very common that I am able to find cheaper rates using a different provider than what Etsy uses to quote shipping costs. When this happens I refund shipping overage to you! I am also happy to calculate what your rates would be if you send me a message with your address and which books you would like to purchase.

What is the difference between something that is vintage and an antique?

Some products (like cars and electronics) get defined differently, but for the most part to be considered vintage an item must be 25 years old. Etsy actually shortens this and says anything 20 years old is allowed to be sold on their platform as vintage. Antiques are at least 100 years old.

Are you allergen friendly?

A resounding YES! We are smoke-free, pet-free, and mold-free. I have chronic mold illness so this is something I am passionate about. I inspect every book that comes through my doors and will not sell anything questionable. Your health is my priority!

I'm looking for a specific book and don't see it in your shop. Can you help?

Yes! I am happy to help you find specific books - just message me with the title(s) and your budget. I always feel weird asking for a budget, but I don't want to acquire something for more than you want to spend. That wouldn't help either of us out!

A book I want is sold out, is there a waitlist?

Yes! There ought to be a button you can click to be notified when the item is restocked. Sometimes Etsy glitches and you won't see the "let me know when this item is back" button - if that happens please send me a message so I can override that setting manually.

Do you accept returns?

Yes! If you have changed your mind after I have shipped your order to you, you have 14 days from date of delivery to contact me about next steps for the return. Item(s) must also be shipped back to me in this 2 week window, so I recommend reaching out sooner than later! You MUST contact me to initiate a return. Items that are sent to me without prior contact are considered a donation.

The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. A refund will be given for the cost of the item only. Shipping costs are non-refundable. Even if you did not pay shipping costs on your order, my shipping costs are deducted from the return amount.

Refunds are given once I have the item(s) back in my possession.

Do you accept exchanges?

Yes! You must reach out to me to begin this process within 14 days of the original order being delivered to you. Please see the FAQ on returns as the majority of that information is also applicable for exchanges. You are responsible for return shipping cost. Typically I cover the shipping cost of the new item you are exchanging for.

I do not ship out the new item(s) until I have the originally purchased item(s) back in my possession.
