Announcement    : : : Lisa Gastélum : : : The Original Beaded Circles, Dots, Rounds, Spheres

April 2024 -- I am making much progress with my newest collection. I was thinking back to the last time I really developed a full-fledged collection -- and it has been a few years. The last one I started with in 2018 when I was looking at the photos Juno took of Jupiter. As you may know, I am currently working on a this new collection inspired by some paintings I did during the summer of 2023 titled "Memory Maps." The theme with these new pieces is the past, but using the past to bring about new thinking, positivity, beauty, kindness and movement.

I recently posted a couple of images on my IG (@maravillarow) showcasing one of the (I hope) 5 limited edition color story necklaces that I am making. I usually start a collection by making my signature woven beaded statement necklace and then working back to smaller and smaller pieces. Eventually I get to earrings -- but for some reason it's easier to start bolder and then take that and work the ideas more intricately. I love making earrings and I love to use my big statement pieces as inspiration for those.

Because of the work I'm doing on this new collection it means that I am currently no longer taking special orders (for now-- but that window will open again in a few months for anyone interested). I would love to thank all of my Special Order customers that have been so enduringly patient and kindly entertained my sometimes long-winded and highly-detailed messages. I do so appreciate you!

I am still tempted to post "A Bead per Day kind of thing" -- I've been making beads like crazy over the past 7 months and all of them are with beads and colors I've never used. It's all so exciting! Let me know on my IG if that sounds like something you'd like to see. :)

If you have read my bio, you will know that I have been using beads since I was 12 years old. Let's just say it's been MANY decades of using this medium. As such, I have acquired quite a collection of beads. Beads of all kinds and from many places. One of my favorite seed beads that I've collected over the years are antique and vintage seed beads. I have French, Italian and Czech mostly, but also a few German and Japanese. These beads will be part of my new collection and I'm excited to make pieces with these old, beautiful and sometimes very subtle colors.

I truly love what I do and am very fortunate to still be able to bring my jewelry to everyone through my Etsy store after almost 30 years of making my work. It has been such a privilege. I hope, after all these years, that my work shows the care and attention I give to each and every piece. Thank you to everyone for your support of me and my work.💫

Along with making pieces for my shop, There are new pieces in the gallery where I show my work — Bainbridge Arts & Crafts Gallery, Bainbridge Island, WA. So, for those of you that live in or are visiting the Pacific NW, and you want to see or buy some of my work, its showing at this gallery. The Bainbridge Arts & Crafts Gallery is located right on the main street that runs through Winslow. If you happen to be there, please stop in to this beautiful shop. It is well worth the trip as this area is absolutely beautiful, especially on a sunny, crisp Springtime day!

Thank you all :) 💫

Shop members

  • Lisa Gastelum

Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator, Metal-smith, Weaver, Colorist, Photographer

All of the tiny seed beads in my woven work come together to make a larger, cohesive, collective - much like we as humans, when we come together to build, create, or plan something larger than ourselves.

  • Jason Murray

    Spouse, Admin. Assistant, Booth Designer

Jason helps me with the Business part of my business and uses his creativity in building out my beautiful booth & displays at shows around the country.

  • Beebe

    Constant Companion, Bead Chewer

Beebe is my 13 year old Chinese Crested Powder Puff and the most wonderful dog on the planet. He stays up nights with me and if I'm not looking - may decide that my beads are food. He's learning that they really aren't that tasty.....
