We provide the opportunity for our wearers to unearth a cosmic treasure to call their own. Every Tytin piece is comfortable and versatile, allowing it to evolve into a staple accessory for any earthly look.
INSPIRATION
Tytin Jewelry is designed and handcrafted in Chicago by Tina Chan. It is inspired by her infatuation with the shapes and patterns surrounding us in this world and others. She is especially intrigued by the shapes and patterns found in nature, outer space, geometry, sci-fi, and architecture but can go beyond into other art forms. She takes these shapes and morphs them into her own all the while striving to keep the design simple and minimal yet rich with unusual, artful complexities. Along with these unique shapes, Tina plays with the concept of duality by maintaining a harmonious balance between striking opposites in every piece: modern yet primitive; strong yet delicate; geometric yet organic; familiar yet strange. This intriguing symmetry and its versatile forms is what defines Tytin Jewelry.
PROCESS
She embodies the same counter balance concept into her practice, utilizing both ancient and modern jewelry making techniques. Each design begins with a pencil sketch which she then translates into a prototype using either ancient wax carving techniques or modern CAD/CAM technology. She works with a local casting company to bring her pieces to life in materials including bronze, sterling silver, and gold. Every piece is then hand finished by Tina in her Chicago studio. All other materials involved in the making process are always sourced from US vendors.
