My recent artwork is inspired by our human connection to the natural world around us and the connection to the earth as a source of healing and wisdom. This core purpose to my artwork has lead me around the globe studying sacred teachings under indigenous elders, studying permaculture and organic agriculture, herbalism, classical painting methodology, mythology, geometry and harmonics, and has finally led me back to Iowa to explore my ancestral roots here as a farmer and steward of my family farm. I am now focused on the ecological restoration of my family farm, and interested in creating artwork about my experience through this process.

My work now is primarily involved with our current ecosystem of the past and future here in Iowa. The tall grass prairie which once covered our whole state is now almost extinct, and along with it our biodiversity, wide variety of medicinal healing plants, and indigenous teachings and knowledge of natural systems and way of life. I weave imagery of plants, animals, archetypal symbols, myths and story, and the elemental aspects of nature to show how we are deeply rooted within the web of nature and its preservation.
