I’m Alex Savakis, a lettering artist and illustrator. I started out as a manager in an in-house sign shop in San Francisco. I cut and installed vinyl letters and logos for a captive customer base. And I designed and illustrated banners the in-house marketing department. Later, I moved to Cleveland where I worked for the second largest greeting card company in the U.S. I was trained and mentored to become a lettering artist. I learned from some of the best lettering artists in the business to draw letters, craft lettering compositions, and design typefaces.

Upon my return to California, I worked as a freelance designer and lettering artist. In 2007 I opened this Etsy in response to the work from my former blog, Lettering Guy. My customers came from all parts of the world from North America, South America, Europe and Asia. I met some wonderful people. A customer bought one of my pieces for a documentary photoshoot which was in an issue of HGTV Magazine.

My recent projects include an illustration for the publication "It's All Greek To Me" from They-Draw.com and a giant banner about health and fitness for Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership in Warren, Ohio.

I share my sketches and lettering ideas on Instagram. I loves comic books, graphic novels and Star Trek. Currently I live in Concord, California.
