Welcome to Albert Postlethwait
Hello I'm Samantha and I run Albert Postlethwait
I make bright colourful clothing and reusable products. Every single item is cut, sewn, pressed, checked, and shipped out from a small studio in Clacton-on-sea. I've been sewing for around 10 years and have a degree in fashion and textiles.
I started my small business after learning to make reusable nappies for my son in 2013. I jumped on a trend which used colourful bright Jersey fabric for the nappy outers, and I built myself quite a collection of cloth nappies. I then started selling them to bring in extra cash to fund my sewing habit.
My business very quickly evolved into other reusable products such as Cloth Pads, Reusable Wipes and breast pads etc. After a few months I had requests for matching T-shirts and other clothing from customers, so of course I obliged.
My business ran successfully for a couple of years, but I felt I wanted to up my skill set and so took a break to go to university. I then completed my degree in fashion and textiles. I learned tonnes of new skills which has enabled me to produce some amazing items.
I re-opened my business in late 2019 to run full time and am really enjoying it once again. I have regular customers which is amazing, and I love to see their children growing. My youngest child is now 8, so it's lovely when I get orders for much smaller sizes and get to sew teeny things again.
I absolutely love sewing! It's an obsession that takes over most of my house. I don't just sew for work, I make most of my own clothes too! I have a sewing studio where everything for Albert Postlethwait is made. I then have a sewing room at home which means I can lock myself away and sew whenever I want.
Albert Postlethwait is growing at a steady rate. I get in new bolts of fabric every month and keep and constant stock of solid colours to match the fabric I get in. I'm aiming to build up a wider range of fabric prints giving more variety.
I love trying out new patterns so the range of items on offer will grow in time.
I'm open to custom orders so feel free to drop me a message or email albertpostlethwait [!at] gmail.com to discuss this.
