Announcement    Welcome to Treasures

Rocks, rocks, and more rocks. I have always loved rocks. In the past I bought traditional faceted gems, diamonds, rubies and sapphires, emeralds and amethyst. Eventually though I found them boring in their sameness of cut and setting and I began looking for different kinds of stones. Stones with their own character, color and cut. My search revealed a bounty of material provided by our earth and seas. Delighted with the new materials, I crafted an entirely new wardrobe of accessories to match my own personal wardrobe and Treasures was born.

Until now most of my public work was custom bracelets, necklaces and earrings to match a client’s taste and wardrobe. My work has changed focus to setting gems in traditional wire wrapped settings.

Seven or eight years ago I made my first visit the the Jewelry Museum in Phorzhiem Germany. On the second floor was a dark room filled with spotlighted cases. These cases contained beautifully set gems in gold and silver. Tucked away in a corner was a small spotlighted case that contained a simple silver ring. Closer inspection I discovered that first century Roman ring was made of silver wire bound with silver wire.

I fell in love with the idea that simple wire and a talented artisan could make something so lovely and durable with a bit of wire and their talented hands. That started my search for artists who could teach me, lead me to be a master in the art of wire work. I now use all the lovely gems I have collected over the years and bits of wire to create one of a kind of wearable art.
