Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a cold process soap and a regular soap?

A cold process soap is a handmade soap which follows a manufacturing process known as “cold” as opposed to the hot one which is industrial.

During the saponification reaction (which is the chemical reaction between fatty acids and sodium hydroxide leading to soap), the industrial soapmaking process heats the mix up to 248°F (120°C) in order to accelerate the reaction and to obtain a cooked soap quickly usable. Two consequences:
- the heat alters all the benefits of the vegetable oils
- glycerin (a softening agent) is removed from the soap as it obstructs the machines, and is sold separately because of its high market value.

On the contrary, the cold soapmaking process does not involve heating the mixture giving many benefits to the soap.

What are the benefits of cold process soap?

- The artisanal cold process soapmaking guarantees the preservation of the vegetable oils’ benefits thanks to the low temperature used during the production
- Cold process soap is naturally glycerin enriched, the perfect moisterizing and softening agent for all kind of skins, above all dry skins
- Our soaps are always superfatted, meaning enriched in Shea Butter to deeply nourish your skin
- We carefully select our ingredients and are proud to offer soaps free of paraben, phthalates, palm oil, endocrine disruptors, animal fat, silicon oils or waxes, mineral oil, BHA and DEA.
- Thanks to that thoughtful composition, our soaps are 100% biodegradable meaning absolutely safe for the environment, grey waters and aquatic life.

Custom and personalized orders

I absolutely LOVE custom requests! Just send me a private message and tell me more about your project. From custom soaps to custom stamp designs, or stickers or tags, we can explore every possibility together :)

Gift wrapping and packaging

I'm personally very involved in protecting our environment.

So as a business, I'm also doing my best to reduce my carbon footprint. I ship your orders with paper, or I reuse bubble wrap or styrofoam from my own supplier's orders. Besides, there's no invoice nor packing list. I try my best to buy my ingredients locally. I also worked on different packaging solutions: recyclable, compostable, reusable, or without any packaging at all. And of course, I'm not using plastic!

Finally, I donate a portion of your payment to non-profits which help protect our environment!

How to use a shampoo bar?

Very easy!
First, wet your hair and the shampoo bar. Then, two options from here:
- You can either rub the shampoo bar directly on your wet hair to work up a lather.
- Or you can lather it in both hands, and then apply the lather to your wet hair.
After washing, rinse thoroughly.

What should I know about international shipping before ordering?

Due to the ongoing global pandemic and the crippled global postal system, most international packages are taking anywhere from 30-80 days to arrive in their destination countries. Please be patient, I'm as powerless and frustrated as you are!

Please be aware that for now, Etsy doesn't give the customers the possibility to insure orders for international shipping. Thus, by default, your orders are NEVER insured for international shipping. As a consequence, Body Délice can't be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur during the shipping.
But if you wish to add insurance, please contact us before ordering. We'll create a custom listing for you, and will include the price of the shipping insurance.

When will my order be shipped?

There is one global shipment per week.
The orders received before Thursday at midnight (PST), will be shipped on Friday.
