btw Ceramics is the company of designer and maker Brooke Winfrey, founded in Brooklyn and made in LA. Beginning in Fall 2011, btw Ceramics started with a line of striped dinnerware with a distinct handmade touch. The aim of this unique ceramics line is to create minimal functional ceramics that are modern and approachable. With creative details such as precocious lines that can't ever be straight or subtle uneven texture, the hand formed shapes are highlighted. The object's unmistakable handmade feel draws attention to the creation process. Each piece embraces the playful nature of clay and accentuates it's idiosyncrasies by pairing raw, rough edges with smooth, flowing lines.

As the designer and creator, Brooke approaches each piece as its own creation where the irregularities are embraced and the moment to moment approach is captured in the expressive creations as the artists hand is left to be blatantly and proudly shown on the pieces. Each piece is hand formed and hand painted, so that the irregular details that characterize each piece are never alike. The minimal shape of the forms and focus on porcelain as the primary material juxtaposes the white smooth, silky porcelain against the graphic hand painted designs.
