From the owner: Born in the post-industrial pseudo wasteland that is Cleveland, Ohio, I found solace at an early age in the worlds of punk & DIY, resulting in a lifetime of greatly passionate work toward fostering community, improving access on many fronts, and generally striving to challenge/deconstruct systemic oppression and fight for the underdog(s) (be they many).
Based in Brooklyn, New York, Elation Press in its current incarnation exists as darn near the ninth life of this DIY // punk // distro // community project, all of which have come and gone in a comedy of (trial and) errors, from the days we hosted an independent lecture series in our dining room and ran a bike co-op out of our basement to the weeks we spent traveling, demonstrating, resisting, standing in outspoken solidarity, to the present days, a bit more quiet, a bit more focused on the pull to turn this into something truly sustainable, recognizing that whim and impulse don't necessarily do any favors when one is trying to run a business as a means of surviving. I am trying to believe in punk business. Please help me believe.
Presently, our goal as a zine distro and smallscale DIY publishing company is to phase through the older collection of miscellany lingering from the days that anything remotely interesting was considered excellent distro fodder, and refine to a more cohesive body of work that more intimately supports artists and activists in a sustainable context. As such, Elation Press currently seeks creators to become new distro best friends, and to distribute in the dozens if not hundreds over time.
Represented within you'll find radically honest vulnerability, and brave voices from those who dare to question the status quo and the ways it limits us from knowing our true potential.
You could say we barely survived to this ninth life, but now that we're here, we're here to stay. Elation Press stands in proud representation of the growth we've undergone so far, and unwavering commitment to cultivating the future we dream of. And you are part of our dream.
