When I stand outside and watch the birds fly, leaves fall, bugs crawl, clouds float by... I am filled with wonder and amazement at Mother Nature's grand design. The harmony and complexity that I see not only in nature, but in things everywhere, the black silhouette of telephone lines, trees and rooftops against the sky at sun set, the shape of a well crafted piece of furniture or the color in a shade of lipstick, these are some of the things that inspire me to paint, collage, draw etc. My work has been described as decorative, amusing and playful yet sophisticated and heartfelt. When I make art I feel magnificent and my hope is that that feeling comes through in the art I make.
With most of my work I have used mediums including acrylic paint, watercolor crayons, rice paper, tissue paper, stampings of my own handmade rubber stamps, glitter, ephemera, magazine clippings, India ink, bits of old paintings on paper, gesso, graphite, dreams, words, love, hope, fear, etc. At times I will work on stretched canvas or paper, however, I prefer to work on wood panels or blocks of wood, whatever surface is available or desirable at the time.
