Ever since I was a small kid, I always had a different view of the world. I saw everything in layers. I was fascinated with examining and guessing how stuff around me looked in 3D. I used to spend hours building toys from different materials.
As the years progressed, I became more and more interested in digital design. Eventually, I abandoned all interest in building physical 3D objects.
But it was always there. In the back of my head. The need to work with matter, to bring life into still, flat, lifeless materials. It is only fitting, I guess, that I should come back, and start creating 3D Papercraft models.
Hi, my name is Yair.
As I'm writing these lines I’m turning 40, and this shop is my mid life crisis resolution. :)
I -LOVE- bringing life into paper. Making Papercraft models is something I’ve been planning to do for a couple of years now. For some reason, life had the best of me, and I just couldn’t find the time.
Well… no more. I’m going all in!
I want my models to tell a story, to have some kind of extra twist to them. If they don't, then they get scrapped!
I spend a lot of time thinking of the model, sketching them, imagining their story, before I start designing them. Once I’m happy with the design, I start prototyping it. It is not uncommon for me to build and revise the model for more that 10 times. I have to get it just right. That’s a knows problem with me – I'm a perfectionist.
3D Papercraft models are intended for people who like puzzles. For those who like to work with their hands. It builds and develops the ability to be more patient and concentrate better.
I do my best to design the model so that they will be easy to assemble. But you should be aware... It takes a few hours to complete a model. That’s why I suggest you build it though a few sessions – not in one go. The amount of satisfaction and joy you will get once you complete them, is amazing. Bragging about the models, and showing them to your friends is priceless.
Hope you’ll enjoy building them, at least as much as I do designing them.
Good luck!
