Announcement    Welcome to Precious Violet!

A bit about me - working from my small studio at home in the village of Grimsargh, on the edge of the beautiful Ribble Valley, I have been creating hand crafted jewellery since 2008. From humble beginnings as a hobby for family gifts, I have now had my work published, both in on - line publications and in Jewelry Affaire. I was also a regular member of the international Earrings Everyday blog team pre-Covid. To see my newest work and join in some fun shows, join my group www.facebook.com/groups/theverynicegroup

I use only the most beautiful components, often with unique artisan beads and metalwork, sourced very carefully. I try to use Fair Trade products wherever I can. I am crazy about colour, and spend hours planning pieces that will emphasise the beauty of the beads I buy, so I hope you like them too. I rarely make the same piece twice; many of the beads I buy are unique, and life's too short, so pieces that are described as OOAK (one of a kind) are guaranteed to be so. I refuse to be pinned down to a particular style of work so you can expect an eclectic collection here!

I enjoy working in close partnership with other local artists; Helen Backhouse, an artist friend working from her studio near Clitheroe, designs in polymer clay and precious metals using moulds made from natural objects in her garden. Her wonderful eye for colour adds much to my designs and we have exhibited joint work in the Platform Gallery in Clitheroe.

Finally, a word about reserves, and custom orders. I don't ask for payment in advance for custom orders, as I like to make sure my customers are happy with the result, but I do expect that they will be purchased promptly when ready. With reserves, I am happy to reserve for a few days or to the end of a month to fit with paydays.

Married to a GOM (grumpy old man), what can a girl do but take up a hobby? I named my hobby which flourished into a business after my elder grandaughter Violet (beautiful but a madam). Making beautiful jewellery is now an obsession. Enough said.

Welcome to Precious Violet and thank you for taking the time to look at my work.
How did I arrive here? Well, in 2007, whilst looking for jewellery to match my own mother of the bride outfit and being disappointed by the lack of originality and the poor quality of what was on offer on the high street, I decided to make my own using vintage beads left to me by my own mother, who used to collect and remodel vintage jewellery as a hobby after her retirement. I was seriously bitten by the beading bug! Now retired myself, I have established my business, named for my beautiful elder granddaughter Violet, to bring you the same quality and originality that I was seeking. I don't have a particular style - nor do I want to, as I like to try out new things all the time, source new bead makers and precious metal findings, and I am continually developing. What you will find are gorgeous beads, often unique, hand made by British or worldwide artisan beadmakers, complemented by findings in silver (fair trade wherever possible) copper, vermeil and now beautiful bronze.
If you have any questions at all then please drop me an email.

Cancellations

Cancellations: not accepted

Please contact the seller if you have any problems with your order.

Payment

Payments are accepted through Paypal, credit or debit card within 2 days of your purchase. If payments are not made by the third day items will be re-listed and the sale cancelled. If you would prefer to pay by cheque I am happy to accept them and items will be posted upon clearance - UK only, I'm afraid, as the bank charges on foreign cheques are outrageous. Other arrangements can be made on an individual basis. I'm usually happy to reserve items for a while, maybe to the end of the month. Etsy gift cards are also welcome.

Shipping

Postage costs bug me greatly - especially when people use them to bump up artificially low prices, so I have, over the years, learned to refine my packaging to be able to offer free worldwide postage. I'll recycle packaging wherever possible (bubblewrap, tissue paper, padded envelopes, outer boxes) but your piece will come in a beautiful new gift box with my Violet logo, made from recycled card and fitting large letter postage size to save costs. All items will be sent first class post. If you require special delivery (which you will need to pay for) please convo me to arrange.

Additional policies and FAQs

All my jewellery is guaranteed for my lifetime - ok, you say , so I am 69 but have plenty of life left in me yet! - so if you break it by accident I will be happy to repair it, if possible. Some repairs will incur a cost, so please message me beforehand for an estimate. I am also happy to remodel jewellery using artbeads, which will last a lifetime if looked after well, if you still love the beads but subsequently want a 'new look'. I particularly love to design jewellery around an outfit if provided with a good quality photo and/or a fabric swatch to ensure a perfect match.
And if you live within calling distance of Grimsargh, pop in, have a coffee and help design your own (you can choose your own beads - my stash has reached embarrassing proportions!)
