I've been creating things ever since I can remember. I love to draw, paint, and craft. When I got married and friends of mine were getting married, as well, I made many wedding decorations, favors, baskets, guest books, and more. They were all very much admired and I was encouraged to start my own business. I didn't do it.
Then, when I had kids and most of those same friends were having kids, I began making baby slings, hats, blankies, etc. They said I simply must sell some of my creations! Since I was now a stay-at-home-mom and needed an outlet for my creativity (not to mention a bit of income), I decided to use remaining fabric I had, and other up-cycled materials to make more.
I enjoy creating something that can be used and loved out of something that is no longer needed or usable. Some things I do make from new materials, but I prefer to keep what I can out of our landfills.
When deciding on a name, I tried to think of my favorite things and one of them is the feeling of sun warmed sand beneath my toes. Since I've been mainly selling baby items, I pictured my baby's adorable little toes sticking out of the sand. I lived by the beach in Santa Cruz, CA most of my life, so often enjoyed that with my two young kids.
I write about my life, shop updates, how to make certain crafts, fun educational activities with kids, and more on my blog: http://naturalparentguide.com.
