I opened my Etsy Shop 8 years ago and love everything about it: buying, selling, window shopping~ it's how I start & end each day!
I started ShabbyVintageMom out of necessity rather than for my love of creating & crafting. I'm a mom of 4 and working away from home wasn't an option for me{my kids were all school age at the time}.
So, after accidentally stumbling onto Etsy{it took me awhile to figure out what this site was all about} I decided to give it a try.
One of my favorite books "Where Women Create" had inspired me to make an Inspiration/Memo Board for myself. I loved mine and so did family & friends so I decided to make some for my Shop.
I had no idea if anyone would know what it was that I was selling because at the time I was the only Shop with anything like it.
Luckily they did! I've sold over 160 Fabric covered Inspiration Boards that have found their way into homes around the World :)
My favorite thing about Inspiration Boards is how they can dress up a wall like a piece of art, BUT I also wanted to figure out a way to make pretty become more functional {magnetic + writeable- being able to jot down notes or messages} so in 2009 through trial & error I created my 1st Magnetic Chalkboard.
In the last couple years Chalkboards have become the hot & trendy item- especially for Weddings. Unfortunately for my little Shop I'm now lost in a sea of MANY other Shops selling the same thing.
BUT, I still enjoy the process of creating each board, from finding the frame to picking which vintage buttons will become magnets.
I'll continue to make the things I love & hopefully come up with some new ideas.
I am SO thankful & truly appreciate each and every customer♥
This is just something funny{and sweet} I thought I'd share, and I can't remember which one of my kids started this:
One day I got that much loved email that says: Etsy Transaction{meaning YOU HAVE A SALE} and one of my kids said: "God Bless Us Everyone!" something Tiny Tim said from the movie 'A Christmas Carol'. Ever since then{seriously} with each and every sale that's something I/we say because we are truly grateful for every sale :)
♥ Recycle ♥ Repurpose ♥ Reuse ♥
Since I only use vintage frames that I actually hunt down at Flea Markets, Estate Sales or Antique Shops, when I'm low on Chalkboards or Inspiration Boards it probably means I haven't had much luck {and because I'm pretty picky} but I'm always out there looking for that perfect vintage frame!
My Boards are great to help keep you organized~ if you're a list maker or you like to post reminders to yourself{or others} then a Magnetic Chalkboard comes in really handy.
You'll also find a variety of Upcycled Vintage Home and Wall Decor. I'm out weekly hunting down vintage mirrors, sconces and frames to freshen up, so they can find their way to new homes♥
