Announcement
My sister set this up and I truly need it. This is the hardest message I've ever had to write. Sunday night (17th), my mama died. She had no life insurance. I counted on her SSI as the other half of our income. I recently did everything to raise her credit score so she could get a house in her name. I have nothing. I can't pay the $1936 rent and I can't even pay the approximately $650 to have my mama cremated. I need help everyone. I don't ask for help easily or often, but please. Pride be damned, I truly need help. One month of rent and getting my mama cremated would enable me to get back on my feet and work toward becoming a productive member of society and figure out what life is without my mama. I've never lived for me; I don't even know how.
I did everything right; I called 911, I started compressions, the EMT's and Paramedics went above and beyond and she didn't come back to me. I've lived my whole life for my mama.
Please. Anything would help. It's more than I had before. I've never asked but I'm begging. Buying something from my shop does the exact same thing too. It means more than you could ever imagine.

5 out of 5 starsGot a “random grab bag” for Christmas as I am getting back into painting as a new mom. The colors I got are a perfect array of both base colors and complimentary glitters and I love them! Nothing like what can be found in a store. Will be coming back as the need for more colors emerges. Very friendly and kind seller.

I'm so thrilled you got these! Occasionally, they double (sometimes triple) and I rarely get to see exactly all 10 everyone gets, so I'm thrilled this is the combo you got! My method for picking which go into the bag is kind of funny, but you and I are of the same mind with color: I have three boxes, each have warms, cools and metallics/glitters/neutrals. I pick 3 from the warm randoms, 3 from the cool randoms and 4 from the metallic/glitter/neutrals randoms; they're already pre-wrapped and I intentionally don't look at which pans or try and give myself any clues (and hold my breath). My favorite you got is "Minutes to Midnight". It's charcoal based with a special fine glitter. Thank you so much for ordering from me! I can't wait for the next batch of colors and I hope you like those!

5 out of 5 starsBasically all of these came out great, except the Dazzle, glitteriest glitter one, and that's just because glitter watercolors just be like that. Really appreciate the names being written on them 24k Vermillion really stands out

Thank you so much for not only buying these, but swatching and showing them too! I'm so excited these are the ones you got in here. I'd give Dazzle (it's similar to another one I made called "snowfall") a try on black watercolor paper or over already dried watercolor (aquarelle/glazing), that's how I personally use transparent glitters like those and see how you like it; I also pre-activate them and give them approximately 5 minutes prior to using them, to give the particles time to release. I truly hope you enjoy these and they bring you joy and inspire and spark creativity and cannot thank you enough for ordering from my shop.

Do you make your watercolor paints by hand and/or from scratch?
Absolutely. Not only do I make my binder from absolute scratch from a proprietary recipe, it's organic, sustainable and took over a year to develop. Mine is fundamentally different than most binders and will never mold/turn like some handmade watercolor makers.
All pigments from organic, botanical to mineral are sustainably, responsibly and ethically collected/harvested and processed then ground by myself. I then hand-mull every single small batch. I don't repeat any batch and that's why they are never double filled with catchy "pillow topped" because these aren't repeatable. They're unique and I take pride in ensuring every batch is.
Do you use your own paint?
Hell yes. My paints are also artist-grade, not student-grade; I use my own watercolor in my own work I not only sell, but display in galleries, so high quality is a must. You can see a body of my work in my portfolio on website (shatteredelegance.net) or Adobe Behance.
Do you have a portfolio?
Very much so and I take great pride in being a consummate professional in my field.

Adobe Behance Portfolio here: https://www.behance.net/Jarrodjvandenberg
Do you license your designs and illustrations?
Yes, I do; for big box stores, major companies and small businesses alike. Please send an email to me at Jarrodjvandenberg@gmail.com to inquire.
I also teach various classes from Modern Calligraphy, Blackletter Calligraphy to Watercolor, Beadwork and Digital Art/Design. I also speak regularly about the importance of price points and design business. If you're interested, you can inquire about scheduling for your next event to my email at Jarrodjvandenberg@gmail.com; I don't just do events locally, I do travel often for said events as well.
Do you make your own watercolor binder?
I do! It's my own recipe and it's 100% organic and sustainable. I make each batch by hand, from scratch. I'm really proud of it and it took over a year to create and develop. It's different than all other binders and the science that went behind the creation of it was immense. Mine's different in regards to it never turning or going bad, regardless of how many times it's reactivated. Artist-grade quality was important to me, because I use these paints in my own work professionally as well, not just sell them. In other words, I practice what I preach and use my own products, proudly. It's the same for my FreakInk's Recipe too when making handmade inks.
Are your handmade watercolors lightfast?
Short answer, yes, but it depends on the pigment or color in question. If they aren't, it will be specified. All UV (ultraviolet) reactive pigments are not lightfast in nature; they will lose their reactivity over time when exposed to sunlight over a long period of time, such is the nature of the ingredient(s) used. As are specific botanicals, unless the pigment is stabilized to maintain the pigmentation when exposed to UV rays (sunlight). All factors are taken into consideration when creating new colors.
I use my own watercolors on a professional, gallery-level setting, so lightfastness is important along with sheer professional-level quality. I don't just sell my paints, I use them in my own work, so they had better be excellent.
Do you add brighteners to additives to your watercolor paints?
I proudly do not add chalk, brighter, fillers, cadmium, chromium or anything else to my paints to fill them, make them "look brighter", glide better or seem better than they are. Again, I personally use these (and grab a pan or two out of each batch...) so quality means everything to me. They are 100% organic and vegan. Glitter is from mica, titanium, real gold, real copper, silver, platinum, noble metals or gemstones added. Colors come from the earth, botanicals or natural pigments I source myself or from trusted sources I collect with express, written permission and collected responsibly and ethically.
Who prints your art?
I proudly use Sault Realism Gallery located in Sault Ste. Marie, MI for any print needs I keep on hand and Printful to fulfill my orders I don't keep on hand.
Do you offer wholesale?
I do not, but I do license my designs/art. Please send me a message on Etsy and we can converse from there if you'd like to license my work.
