I like to think of this as the lemonade stand for my art. It's a still summer day here in my front yard. I can hear the muffled sound of a train in the distance. My neighbor is plucking idly at his guitar. The white-crowned sparrow comes back to the nest above the porch light and the baby birds make loud peeping sounds.

I've got the rest of the day ahead of me! I've got my hand painted sign there above the cardboard box I'm sitting at, I've got my paintings all lined up in neat rows, and I've got my little tin can set out. I've got the little transistor radio dialed to the non-profit jazz station. It's a good day for sitting and hoping. It's a good day to think about more paintings.
