One day, S was searching Etsy for an appropriately inappropriate card to send to a friend. S was annoyed to discover that she had already purchased all the best cards. In that moment, S understood that sometimes you have to just do things your own damn self. However, S also realized that she had no actual design skills, but her sister, E, totally did. S then texted E, “I have a good idea for a side hustle.” E responded with “Phone pockets for boots?” They then proceeded to argue about whether anyone really needed phone pockets for boots. After that issue was resolved, S told E that they needed to make fun greeting cards. As usual, E was unenthusiastic so S began harassing her about it.

A few days later, S and E reached a tentative agreement. They would commit to three months, however, they could not agree on a name. Discussing it on the phone, E told S not to “be such a snarky pants.” They both shouted, “Snarky Pants!” and the studio was born.

S and E’s creative process is pretty simple. They text each other with ideas. The other responds with “no” or “hahahaha.” If it’s a hahahaha, they make it.
