Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ‘Custom-Made’ and ‘Ready to Ship’?

‘Custom-made’ pieces are made from scratch to your exact specifications and measurements, and every detail is customisable.
'Ready to Ship' pieces have already been made and stocked. They have never been worn, and they can ship immediately. However, they are not customisable.

How Do I Find My Size?

For Ready-to-Ship pieces, please refer to the specific measurements in the listing.

For Custom-made, we need to get accurate measurements from you. Please follow our specific, detailed instructions and send us photos of each measurement as you take them. We have videos and stills available to help, and we can answer any clarification questions you may have. It is imperative to send correct measurements to us. We cannot be held responsible if the measurements you submitted were not correct.

What Should I Wear for a Measurement Session?

Try to be as close as possible to what will be under your dress. This means no bulky clothing obviously, but also, consider your undergarments. If you will be wearing a bra with your dress, wear that exact bra when taking your measurements. Likewise with Spanx or a bodysuit. If you will not be wearing a bra or other undergarments with the dress, then try to simplify your undergarments for the measurement session. If you are wearing a padded push-up bra taking your measurements, but you are not going to wear that under your dress, then your 'bust' measurement and your 'shoulder to bust' will be inaccurate, leading to poor fit of the dress in this area. Try to be as close as possible to your body state under the dress.

What If My Custom-Made Piece Doesn't Fit?

It's important to realise that you may need a final fitting/minor alterations after you receive the dress. It's normal to have multiple fittings on bridal/custom gowns but as we cannot make the final tweaks on your body, these will have to be done by your local tailor. This is reflected in the price. We have many resources to get measurements as accurate as possible - videos, stills, etc. If you waive these options,
or still submit inaccurate measurements, we can advise you on your options, but we bear no blame.
If we have made a significant error in making the piece to your submitted measurements, we will of course fix it. Please send us photos of the dress measurements that deviate from those submitted (by 1" or more).

I Had A Piece Custom-Made - What If I Don't Like It On Me?

It's important to understand that there are no refunds on custom pieces, so you have to be sure you like the style, color, fabric, etc beforehand. We offer every opportunity to see fabric swatches in person, so please avail of our swatch ordering service. Also, try to try on similar gowns in person before placing your custom order. We are all different shapes and sizes, so just because something looks great on a model or pinterest picture, doesn't mean we'll like it on ourselves. It's important to figure all of this out before placing a custom order. We cannot refund your order simply because you end up not liking the dress on you, after we have custom made it.

What is your Return Policy?

Only ‘Ready to Ship’ items are eligible for return. All other items are made to order so they cannot be returned.

To return a ‘ready to ship’ item, please contact us within 14 days of receiving it, and return it within 30 days. When we receive it, we will process a refund, minus the original cost of shipping. Please ensure it reaches us safely in it’s original condition.

For all other items, made to order, we will work with you to ensure it’s exactly what you want, in relation to style, size, fabric and color, so feel free to utilise our experience and resources! Most items from other stores are returned because they are not the right style, color or fit, so it's actually great to have something made exactly how you need it to be!

I want my bridal party to all order their own dresses and pay separately - can I do that and still get the group discount?

We strongly advise bridal parties or groups to place one single bundled order to get things moving and because we need to work on them all together for uniformity.
If you need to stagger the orders for your party, and have everyone ordering separately, then we may not be able give the same discounts for these, as we would not be working on them together, and it's more time and work for us to deal with each individual order. We also cannot guarantee total uniformity in such cases because of different fabric batches, and change of available materials over time, etc. Our recommendation for groups/bridal parties is to order all together. We can still arrange to ship to different addresses, but the group should be kept in one order, if possible

I'm Pregnant and I Need a Dress - How Do I Figure Out My Measurements?

Congratulations! There are a few ways to go...

If you're getting a custom-made dress, we obviously need to get your measurements in advance, which can be hard to guess at if your body is changing. We advise adding on extra space to your bust, empire waist and bump, and a little extra length. Then, you will have alterations done locally right before the event for the perfect fit.

You could also wait until closer to the day and order a Ready to Wear dress in a forgiving fabric/style that could work for maternity.

You could also have an adjustable style dress custom-made. Consider stretch fabrics, elasticated waists, and multiway styles.

Unfortunately, we can't predict your exact future size, but we can help guide you with our expertise!

I'm Nervous Ordering Online - How Can I Guarantee I Get Exactly What I Want?

There are a few very useful things to do:

1. Try on dresses of a similar style to ensure you're happy with the style prior to ordering.

2. Get fabric swatches, to be certain of the color and type, in person.

3. Get accurate measurements/sizing. We have many resources available to help with this - just ask. It's a crucial step.

4. Ask questions about anything you're unsure of or don't understand. Some fashion and dressmaking terms are confusing, and if you're not sure what something means, we're happy to explain. If you're not sure, ask about the lining, if the fabric stretches, the way certain parts fit and move, and even the limitations of a particular style or fabric. We're here to help. :)

Is the arch fabric returnable?

Unusued fabric in it's original condition may be returned for exchange or refund, but please be aware that you are responsible for the cost of shipping both ways. Depending on your location, this cost can be considerable so it's well worth ensuring the colour is right first time. It is generally much more cost-efficient to order swatches before your fabric to ensure the colour is what you want in person.
If returning fabric, we urge you to note on the packaging that it is a return, so that customs are not erroneously charged.
If planning an exchange, it is usually best to order your new fabric while you wait for your return to arrive to us since it may take many weeks to arrive. We will then process your refund when it arrives.
