I wanted to keep as much of my fabric scraps from being wasted as possible. I am an artist, so it wasn't a big leap to create wearable art using the scraps. I love trying to see what all I can use of various items, to create new things and keep what otherwise would be discarded, out of the landfill. So, I started using my scraps with the aid of fusible web, and created fabric collages, in different motifs. I have done a few with horses, like the one pictured, one with a cat, and another with a sunflower. I have had rave reviews from the people I've given my creations too, and I was encouraged to make them to sell. I recently had to give up my job due to fracturing my back in an equine accident, so starting Up*Psych*les was a well-timed decision. I am psyched about wearable art!
I also do mosaics, and soon will have these to sell as well. I find broken pottery to add to my huge stash of it, and find making mosaics is very therapeutic for me. I was a psych major in college, so this shop is aptly named. I find all sorts of things to add to my mosaics, when I'm walking around. It is a wonder I don't trip, as my eyes are usually scouring the ground, looking for accessories for mosaics.
